The above, from the opening song of this mix, is possibly my favourite lyric. I’ve lived in land-locked Alberta my whole life, but since the first time I swam in the pacific ocean in 2009, I have wanted to live closer to it. One of my favourite memories is catching a first glimpse of the Pacific at 4:00 am after driving all night with two friends on our way to Victoria. We frantically dug through my CD binder trying to find The Silver Cord, and somehow timed it just right that the song lasted us the duration of the drive to the ferry docks.

Looking at the tracks on this mix, they evoke to me the bittersweetness and anticipation that I always feel whenever I think of the Northwest and Spring. The longing for the rain, the sea salt, and the thaw.
